The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has reintroduced the ban on the construction of new swimming pools. They announced in July 2022 that building plan applications for new swimming pools would not be approved. This was amended in January 2023, when the Building Inspectorate advised property professionals that through a Council Resolution, the restriction on the construction of swimming pools had been lifted, subject to water being obtained through three approved methods.
They have now advised that with immediate effect, no swimming pool applications will be considered.
